Raw Food Diet > One myth and one question

It's been many years since we had a dog that was kibble fed. All I can talk about is how Crash is. He was fed RAW from 4 months until now, so about 4 full years.
He is not smelly at all, not greasy at all and had puppy soft fur.
I wont touch a kibble fed dog. They are "GROSS" quite frankly.

Crash has never had any issues with flea, ticks or other pests. Can I attribute this to RAW or the fact we live in Alaska and the pests seem to be less annoying here? I don't know.

I have not fed those to Crash since he was a pup because I feel as though they are too small to fed. The bones are too small.

Do you think that maybe all this switching of food, especially with a dog known to have sensitivities is not helping?

I run a RAW group on facebook for Alaskans. It's pretty quite but a great place to share tips on where to find cheap meats.

We dont use anything. I will have to look into what's a threat when we move to a warmer climate.

You have to do what works best for your family. If your dogs' sensitivities are causing you to spend way too much on RAW then perhaps you can find a suitable kibble at less expense.

I'd have a really hard time affording $50 a week as well. Right now we are averaging about $25 and it seems like a lot!

ticks or fleas?

For Tick removal,
you can use Peppermint, Thyme, Oregano, Cinnamon essential oils placed directly on the ticks. When tick releases, flick off with a q-tip.
Prevention with a spray of "TerraShield" Essential Oil mixed water. Shake well to mix.

For Flea removal,
you can make a spray of Eucalyptus and water. this also works to prevent.

NOTE! Use only certified therapeutic grade Essential Oils to ensure quality.

We spend about $20-$25 per week on Crash's food. We rarely get beef, so he's on a Turkey, Chicken, Pork, frozen sardine, Chicken liver, beef heart diet for the most part.
We occasionally get gifted hunting scraps but RAW is not cheaper for us.
However, Crash is almost 5. He has amazing teeth, a slim body, no nasty doggy breath, smooth soft fur, and has only been to the vet once in 5 years and it was not diet related. (he ripped a toenail)

No matter the cost, as long as we can afford RAW we will continue to feed RAW.
