Thanks for all the responses thus far. Let me ask another question. If you had an opportunity to get this for $25 per month through a large company as part of a benefits package, do you think it is worth it. (The dog in question is young and healthy with no known hereditary issues or pre-existing conditions.)

Thanks again!

Has anyone used this company? If so, what has your experience been? All feedback, good and bad, requested!

Thank you!

We love Honest Kitchen! Pups & kitties here are on prey model raw, but we do travel quite a bit with the pups and Honest Kitchen is, I feel, a great, temporary alternative to a raw diet, and because Tucker also has a thyroid support supplement that he needs to take twice daily with food (it's a powder so needs to be mixed in with something), I will often use it for this purpose even while we're at home. If for some unforseen reason I had to stop feeding raw, Honest Kitchen would probably be what I would feed full-time.

Small Dogs > Does anyone have a big dog too?

I have had big and small (Dakotah, nicknamed Kody, funnily enough) was a 70+ Malamute mix when I got Tucker (Powderpuff Chinese Crested) who was about ten months old and nine-ish pounds when I got him. Not quite the same degree of size difference as you're talking about, but still substantial. As someone else said, dogs don't see size - a very small dog can exert influence over a very large one, BUT having said that, the potential is still there for the smaller dog to be injured accidentally by a much larger one, so you have to be mindful. In my case, Dakotah was, I knew from long experience, infinitely trustworthy, and very careful, with any being smaller and weaker than himself, and I wasn't the least worried how he would do with Tucker. However, now I'm in the reverse situation in that I have two small dogs (Tucker and nine and a half pound Brussels/Yorkie mix, Phoebe), and find myself really wanting a larger dog again. However, I have concerns about bringing a larger dog in with two smaller ones, just simply because the larger dog (or puppy) is an unknown entity. Still haven't really decided what to do about this.

Raw Food Diet > Been a long time since I've had a MEAT SCORE!

Finding scores like this is one of the things that make raw feeding so much fun! I hadn't had any scores in awhile either, but over the weekend I went to my regular grocery store and they had beef heart in 2-ish pound packages from anywhere between $1.50 and $2.19 - not per pound, TOTAL. So I was pretty excited! I can never get beef heart (or anything but chicken or turkey hearts) locally, so I usually order them online, but once you add shipping, it gets pretty expensive, and because I'm also feeding cats, I am very cognizant of making sure I have a variety of heart in their diet, because of its being so rich in taurine.

Yay for scores!

Jackson, that's awesome that you can find lamb heart in a grocery store! Turkey and chicken hearts are the only ones I ever find. (Though I order beef and pork heart, and occasionally duck and lamb heart, from Hare Today. I am feeding PMR to three cats, and since heart is high in taurine, I like to have a variety of different heart to offer them. Of course the dogs like it, too!)

Ninja is a lucky pup to be growing up on raw AND getting such great variety! I can't wait to see the stunning adult dog he'll grow into!
