Felony charges of animal cruelty for officer who shot this dog. I really hope he gets convicted, then hopefully this will be a warning, and police officers will be trained on how to handle dogs. Not sure if you all know but Commerce City is a suburb of Denver; actually many people think it is part of Denver.

Saying Goodbye: Memorials & Support > looking for a poem about losing a dog

this poem says something about how when we get a puppy how it drives us crazy with its naughtiness, and as a adolescent it tests us, as an adult it ??? and once it passes we know we would go through it all again due to the love it gave us.
I cannot remember the poem, but want to send it to a friend who just lost her dog. I am worried about her, this dog was her world, as ours are our world to us.
If anyone can remember a poem like this please post.
Thx

Service & Therapy Dogs > Family has issues with me having ESA

Tell them that meds, even with insurance can cost just as much as the dog if not more, and on top of that meds do not work well as a dog that you love! I am bipolar and my dog Lola is my ESA. I have been on meds longer than I have had a dog. Lola has helped me more consistently than my meds have. My meds never made me get out of bed to go potty, or made me go play ball, or take them on walks or snuggle with me. My doctor suggested I get a dog for this purpose, and I am so grateful that I listened. On top of that, to me anyway, it is sad that people think presents are more important than your happiness regardless if a pet is just a pet or an ESA dog.

Lola~ We have springy doorstops on most of our doors, She barks at them, ever since she was a puppy... she never grew out of it.
~ If something is out of place, or a new thing appears (like new shoes in the box, by the closet door) she will bark at it, and if I pick it up to show her it is an inanimate object, she will tuck tail and run away. Then peek her head around the corner and bark again.
~ If I am upset and crying, or in a middle of a panic attack, she doesn't know what to do. She will first come to me all wiggly with ears back, and tail down and kiss my face (which includes nibbles), and when that doesn't work she hides under the table. The second I stop making sobbing noises, or my breathing regulates, she comes back and cuddles. She normally isn't very cuddly, so I do my best to stay calm so I can get her comfort. Which is a great. My panic attacks are less severe when she is around, just because it gets me to focus on her rather than me.
~ Lola loves nothing more than she loves food. Our kitchen has two entrances. When we are eating, she will go into the kitchen and make noise. When we go to check on what trouble she is getting into, she will go out the other entrance, and straight to the food we dumbly left on the table. We were slow to catch on,but we eventually did. Now she has to lay down next to us as we eat. If we eat slow she will bark at us in protest.
~Neehi is a 55lb black lab. He has a crazy cute smile and a wiggly butt.
~He loves to cuddle on my chest like a 10 lb cat.
~ He also likes to be picked up and held like a child, with his back legs around you hip, arm under his butt, and his front paws around your neck. I do not do this often because I am afraid to hurt him, but my friend does this all the time with him.
~he is afraid of nothing... except tiny people, as in children. I really want to know what happened to him before we adopted him.
~He also some how sneaks my socks and shoes outside. I find an average and 3 socks and a shoe or slipper when I am picking up poo or playing ball with him.

Some how I missed the part in Lily's post about olive oil being better for dry skin, rather than fish oil. Also I hadn't heard about fish oil depleting vit E either. Jeez, I am out of the nutrition loop!
I stopped the fish oil, and now plan on giving my pups olive oil. Any suggestions on how much to give?
Sanka, Our furnace was just turned on about a week ago, so do not think that is it, but I do know my skin dries out a lot in the colder months, so I am sure my pups skin does too.
Thanks all for your advicesmile

I never thought it could be allergies. I did switch her to canidae just a few months ago. Maybe I should go back to TOTW.

ummm... she is eating Canidae dog food, and I give both my dogs 1200 mg of fish oil. Why? Because we live in Colorado which has a dry climate, and I was told to do so laugh out loud
Maybe I shouldn't??
She has no known allergies.

Took Lola to be groomed and everything went ok except the groomer told me that he was blowing her out before her bath and not only was fur flying, which was expected, but white dander went every where. He said it turned his hand and the black hose completely white.
Lola has been ichy, one reason for her grooming appointment, because I seem not to be able to bathe her easily. She is much more behaved with a stranger than me (groomer said she was the best behaved dog of the day). Before her grooming she did not have any dander showing on her black fur, her fur always looks great, but I did notice when I scratched her ichy spots for her my finger tips came out white and oily.
I was wondering what could cause this... I give her fish oil in her meals... do you think she maybe getting to much oils?
After her grooming, she is less ichy, but still is.
Any ideas what needs to be done?

Hi, I am a student at college level and am doing a research paper on the stated topic. I have quite a bit of information on the topic, I have two interviews completed with professionals, and many studies done on many different levels. One thing I am missing is a case study, a person who has had a personal experience with the two.
I was wondering if anyone who has had experience with either child abuse or domestic violence, and the abuser threatened/ threatening the welfare of your pet to gain or keep control over you, or children who have abused animals, would be willing to share your story with me.
I understand this is a super sensitive topic, and I will treat you and your story with utmost respect.
If you would share your story with me, please paw-mail me. I will have to cite these emails, and turn them in with my final paper. The only people who will see our correspondence will be me and my professor.
With that in mind, if you share anything in the email that you do not want used, please not it clearly, and I will remove it, and will not use in my paper.
God bless everyone who has experienced any kind of abuse. On that note, if you have not received therapy or are not in therapy of some kind now, this may bring up feeling that you may not want to address at this time, so please be aware of that.
Thank you for your time.
