Hi:
Well to add to add to this poor dog's list of problems, he now has cushing's disease. The alk phos level was 943, so we did the 8 hour test which came back with level of 15.3 So, of course the treatment is with Trilostant. Oh dear, I don't like that medicine. Side effects aren't good. Any ideas, info., or any natural ways to help this?

Thanks, Monica

HI:
I've been giving my 2 dogs Dr. Mercola's Joint Support with BiovaPlex. I watch and read Dr. Karen Becker's info. and came across this and did some reading on it. Seems ok for my dogs so far.

Senior Dogs > lumbosacral disease

Hi:
My Dusty is 10 years old. He's been having some limping issues the past few months and vet said it was knee pain. Gave me meds and told to keep an eye on him. Well he began to look stiffer to me and having trouble sitting, jumping and just looked uncomfortable the past week. Took him back to the vet, had to actually go to a new vet (long story, total mis -diagnosis and stupidity from Banfield) anyhow the vet diagnosed him as lumbosacral disease. He's now on Trimadol, Carprofin and Gabapentin. Hoping in 2 weeks he will seem better, if not x-rays and .....
Anyhow, I was looking into the Horgan Harness for him to take pressure off the back legs. Does anyone know anything about this harness?

Hi, I've been doing allthat. He just chomps as he walks, and really pulls! I may have to find a different collar, where he won't pull. Any suggestions anyone?

Behavior & Training > Rescued a dog... AWFUL- Please Help

Thanks again all of you! I left him home (his name is King by the way... and I didn't name him, the people who had him did, the only thing he knows is that name, hahaha- he thinks he's a "king") and my husband is off this week so he was home, he said he was ok, he and Gabby ate their breakfast while I took Dusty for his long walk this morning and ohhhhh it was so wonderful!!!!! Dusty was even calm and relaxed. Then I came back, fed Dusty, and took King for a very very short walk to the corner, and back. He was good so he got lots of praise! I am going to look into a gentle leader/muzzle type thing that won't hurt him in any way. Later we will have playtime outside.

Thanks,
Monica

Thank You all so very very much. He had a vet appointment today and I poke with vet and his assistant who works with a trainer/behaviorist. I have a call into them now. They also suggested that I get him out of our room at night because Duty and Gabby have always been there, and he's showing dominance by being in there. I did end up by taking him on the walk, praising every good step he took, gave a treat for every good thing and then we saw one of our neighbors and dog, who Dusty plays with a lot. Calmly and tightly continued walking he was good, then he slid a bit out of my grip (little stinker is strong) licked the dog (big golden retriever) then bit her in the face within a split second!!! Oh I'm so mortified. Thank God he didn't hurt her. An hour before our next door neighbor' dog was in the yard, he saw her through the fence was trying to get to her, I was hoping to just play, but saw his tail go up like "fight" and he was growling like crazy. I got him to come in the house thankfully.
I can't bear the thought of giving him up, because yes, they will get rid of him, and I have a huge heart full of love to give, so I pray this trainer will help.
Until then, no more walks.

I will get the books in the meantime and I thank everyone for your help. I"ll keep you posted.
