My hubby says,"Positive and negative reinforcement works equally as well. The difference is whether YOU want to live in the light or the dark."

For multiple dogs...Honda Element. I love mine! Easy to clean and has a very versatile interior...the back seats can both come out...or you can leave one in...or flip both up...or only flip one up. When the back seats are used for people...they are like stadium seating, in that they sit a little higher than the front seats so passengers can see out the front window.

I love it's versatility...and we have some pretty harsh winters here.

Snow, snow, and more snow here. Looks like January outside.

I did some rearranging of my living room art in preparation for our new couch. It's coming Wed. Along with our new Tempurpedic KING sized bed. dancing

Hubby worked at the PKC's Spring Match yesterday...Beautiful spring day. I saw the cutest Bellington Terrier puppy there cloud 9 Of course all puppy's are adorable to me.

Snow is letting up...time to shovel.

Choosing the Right Dog > Which one first? Corgi or Shiba?
Jasper

IMO...I would get the Corgi first (being a herding breed...they tend to want the pack to stick together). Once the Corgi is two years old or older...then I would introduce the Shiba. Never underestimate the power of the pack.

If it were me...I would most likely choose a female Corgi and a male Shiba....Or a male Corgi then a female Shiba.

Let both breeders know your plan so they can help choose the right pup for a good fit.

I told Jasper's breeder the pack dynamic I had with 4 poodles of various sizes and my primary goal was to maintain HARMONY in my home. I could never live in a house where I'd have to constantly separate my dogs from one another.

I know a few folks who do that (keep their dogs separate) to prevent fights. That would make me miserable.

When I got Sonja...I had an adult Rottie/GSD mix...95 lb alpha bitch named Pepper. I asked Sonja's breeder if I could bring Pepper to help choose her new house mate. She agreed and put Sonja's mom in the back yard while I brought Pepper in.

I had 3 pups to choose from...2 cream and 1 blue. As soon as I walked into the living room with Pepper...the 2 cream pups took one look at her and ran into the other room. The blue pup gingerly walked over to Pepper...both of their tails were wagging...Pepper sat down and started sniffing at the pup...both tails still wagging....and I said, Well, that settles it. I would have never thought two females would be a good fit if I hadn't taken Pepper with me to let her have the final say.

Pepper did a great job teaching Sonja good manners. Pepper was a velcro dog... never left my side even off lead. To this day, Sonja doesn't wander more than 6 feet from me. Sonja was a breeze to train (granted she's a Poodle). But, Pepper was a great influence on her behavior.

Something to keep in mind...it's not all about you and your SO. Dogs (all breeds) are (basically) pack animals and (typically) enjoy each others company. Ensuring they like each other above all else will make for a more pleasant home life. IMO

hug Serial killers eek Ted Bundy was the freak loose when I was in High School... and had been seen in Southeastern Idaho. Creepy.

Grey and Raining and cold here today.

When I worked at a Mental Health Hospital...it had a section of the place called Life Works which was for drug and alcohol rehab. I remember working with some folks rehabing from Heroine. They said it was harder to quit smoking cigs than quitting heroine....thats how powerful nicotine is. No small feet quitting. hug

hug Everyone hug

Our front door is always locked...including the screen. We have a pass through part on the screen door so when deliveries come we don't have to unlock the screen door to accept packages.

Our back door is never locked laugh out loud It's the door for family and close friends only. They have to navigate through our double gated system and five poodles to get to the backdoor. Strangers are met with "guard dog" mode as Jasper and Hershey are the back yard defense team...and Jasper is a big boy...60+ lbs.

Jewel - Pepto has worked for my dogs in the past and several of the dogs I've cared for on my pet sitting duties (with their peeps permission).

Bunny - yep, clausterphobic feet! I have a pair of rubber slip on sandals made by Nike I wear ALL the time. I usually don't buy Nike shoes as they are too narrow for my wide karate feet. But these are men's athletic slides. Very chushy and I can get them wet...no problem. Plus, the check-mark symbol is small and you don't notice it...I hate being a walking ad for companies.

Anyone watching the History Channels Original series, "Vikings" ? Of course,my hubby (a Viking Warrior himself wink ) has to watch it. We love the History Channel.

I'm with ya on that one too Flicka...I don't worry about how much my shoes or socks cost. Can't skimp on footwear. Feet are too important. I can shop at thrift stores for clothes...no problem...in fact I prefer it...but not for shoes.

I love my "Smart Wool" socks cloud 9
