Jacks! Oh, I'm a terrier person through and through, but for some reason Jacks never interested me.

I have now fostered 3 and love them. They are crazy and smart and funny and stubborn and smart. A real hoot and a half!

What about finding a good Golden rescue and watching for mixes? If they are in foster homes, you can usually get a good idea of what the dog is like in the home. smile I volunteer with a wheaten rescue and we usually have mixes that are smaller/larger than breed standard, but have breed characteristics. Just a thought!

I know what you mean about having an "easy" dog! I think one of my fosters will be a permanent foster here because of behavior issues. She's a awesome dog, but yeah, would have liked a kick butt terrier (instead of one that tries BITE her butt).

If they aren't willing to change their behavior (picking up their own socks) then I'm not sure how devoted they are to change this behavior in their dog. wink

Up the value of the item being traded.
Have them teach a "take it" cue along with "leave it".
Pick up your darn socks!

For me, with my current foster who is a huge stealer of socks, it's management.

"This is not about micromanaging or stopping dogs from communicating, but about respecting a dog who speaks up about his discomfort. Even if your dog has no bite history, imo ignoring multiple growls and a snap is way too far."

To add to that--- We hear quite a bit about how every dog is different. I would say that one growl one day could be all you get and the next it could be half a dozen growls and yet another day it would be three. I have no problem erring on the side of caution and directing interactions. way to go Dogs will be dogs, and should have all kinds of joys that go along with that but with my terriers, I always say- safety first.

I've found a regular schedule really helps as well. If there are no surprises it's easier for them.
