Food & Nutrition > Changing from 2 meals a day to 1?
Murphy

Dogs are angels- with fur!

Murphy was on a meal a day and was gaining weight the vet recommended going to 2 meals with the same amount of food. It's much better for their metabolism to have two just like for humans to have 3 meals a day instead of just 1 or 2. He lost weight going to two meals a day and has more energy. So I would recommend staying with two meals a day, it will not make him gain weight and will be better for him in the long run.

Dog Health > K9 Advantix Side Effects
Murphy

Dogs are angels- with fur!

Every dog is different, Murphy has been on K9 Advantix for 4 years now and he is doing wonderful with no problems. I changed him from Frontline Plus because he had the same reaction that you had to Advantix on Frontline Plus, plus it also became ineffective on him after being on it for 6 years which I have heard a lot of people have this same problem with Frontline. So it just depends on your dog, just like people some things work for some dogs some don't and you just have to experiment until you find the right fit.

Dog Health > Need advice for a limp without vocal pain

Murphy

Murphy had this same problem, limped when we walked, never complained with pain, jumped up and down from my bed and car without problems, etc. Not sure how old your dog is but Murph is 9 years old so I thought is might be arthritis and joint issues, did some research and started giving him Joint Care 2 with MSM from Dr. Foster's and Smith, it did the trick, no more limping only occasionally when it's real cold. I hope this helps

Murphy was on Frontline plus for couple of years and then it was not effective on him plus he reacted very strangely when it was applied. I switched to K9 Advantix and have had much better results and he doesn't have any reactions like before so I'm sticking with it for now.

There are lot of supplements you can give but whatever you choose make sure it has MSM, it looks tremendously with the inflammation which causes the pain. Murphy is on Glucosamine/Chron. plus MSM

Murphy has the same problem, black dark nails and it's hard to see the quick but because the quick is so high you can only trim a little and they also grow very fast. I would not put him under anesthesia and get them cut real short, what will that solve, they will eventually grow back and are you going to put him under anesthesia every time? And also I wouldn't think it would be very healthy to cut the quick back that much which is what would need to be done is they were cut really short. I would just keep getting them trimmed as needed even though they grown fast, which is what I do with Murphy.

Denamarin works wonders also if your dog has high liver enzymes, Murphy's numbers were cut in half after being on it for 3 mos. It is not a drug but a supplement so you don't have to worry about drug side effects.

Dog Health > Frontline Ineffective?

Murphy was on Frontline Plus quite awhile and then it became ineffective on him, plus he hated having it put on, had a nervous effect on him. I changed to K9 Advantix and it works great, no side effects and is very effective. From what I have heard a lot of people have had problems with Frontline.

Dog Health > Dog Aspirin

I have him on supplements already but the aspirin is just when he has bad days, so far I have only given it to him twice in two weeks so I am not concerned about stomach ulcers or side effects. Plus I did talk to the Vet and they said there should be no issue if I follow the dosage which is no more than one a day which I don't plan on giving him that much.

Has anyone every used dog aspirin and if so has it helped with light arthritis? I bought some for Murphy from Dr. Foster's and Smith and just wondering if it will help. He gets stiff and limps especially in the morning or when we take longer walks.
