Behavior & Training > How talkative is your dog?

Roman, for the most part, make small vocalizations, like whining when he can see another dog but can't play with them because they are on the other side of the street or behind a fence. The only time he'll bark is right next to my ear when he's on the back of the couch when he wants to play. Luckily the bark is in my deaf ear... the vibrations still hurt though. lol

Try swimming! It's a good non-intense exercise that could strengthen his legs. smile

You can always do what I did.

I wrapped fur around Romans harness. I sewed it right on there. It helped a lot.

Small Dogs > Am I Being Paranoid?

I just go to the dog park when there is little to no people there.

We don't have segregated parks, big dogs and small dogs are allowed into every dog park here. I usually take Roman to the dog park right when everyone is commuting to work, right after I drop my son off at his school bus stop. There's a dog park blocks away from there. This is usually the time where small dog owners go to the dog park. There are sometimes big dogs around, and Roman gets along wonderfully with them, visa versa. I keep a constant eye out for trouble makers and if there are, I leash Roman and head out.

It's okay to be paranoid about it. A lot of dog owners, big or small, don't go to the dog park because there are people that bring in dogs that they themselves can't manage. It can be either small or big dogs, I've met with both.

Just stick to times where you know there won't be many people there, or none at all and you'll be fine. Just keep watch of the other dogs around you and watch for signs of over-excitement and aggression. If you spot it, calmly put your dogs on leash and walk out. It seems like a lot of work, but it's worth it. If more people did that, and people didn't bring their reactive dogs to the park, people wouldn't be paranoid about the dog park anymore... well not as paranoid anyways.

Try taking her out for a long hike. She will go eventually. After she does go, throw a party, give her lots of praise. That worked for some of my mothers fosters, maybe it'll work for your rescue.

Problem has been rectified. Poop this morning was much more solid, still not as solid as it should be, but definitely more solid than it was yesterday. No more straining either.

The last two times (since I wrote the last post) he hasn't yelped. Called my vet and she said to monitor it and if blood starts to show in his diarrhea, then come in. She said that diarrhea can be painful in itself, with nothing else wrong, so just monitor it like crazy. So far no blood. If blood starts to show up, I'll take him in immediately.

I might mention this as well, on Tuesday we went over to my mothers and ate my mothers fosters dog food, which is pretty crappy food. I was preparing his own food when he did it and he a lot. confused I didn't realize that the food was on the ground since my mother usually picks it up when I come over so Roman doesn't eat the food.

Also, my friend's kids drop a lot of food on the ground and we've been over there for the past 2 days, so he could have eaten something bad for him that was on the ground there... he's also a rabbit poop eater...
