 Happy and HYPER! |
| Barked: Thu May 9, '13 8:39pm PST | | | | | Harmony seems depressed, we recently lost our other dog Gamma. She seemed fine for a month or so, looking for him and then giving up and went back to whatever. now all she does is sulk around the apartment we moved to after his death. she still eats, drinks and goes potty but she only plays for a few minutes if at all and no longer has interest in the dog park. the vet said she'll be okay but im not sure. anyone have any ideas to help? | | | | |

Behavior & Training > How NOT to handle resource guarding

| Barked: Tue Sep 18, '12 9:55pm PST | | | | | There’s more than one way to skin a cat. =P Ive had several dogs, all trained differently and using different "techniques". ive used positive reinforcement (treat on good), negative reinforcement (not over the top, just a smack on the butt) a mixture of both (treat on good, no on bad) and the CM "be the alpha" type mindset. i must say they all work but some work faster than others (the mixture of styles) CM has a way with dogs, nobody can deny that, it just may not be your way. | | | | |

Dogs and a Clean Home > window screen into doggy door?
Harmony
 Happy and HYPER! |
| Barked: Wed Aug 15, '12 3:11pm PST | | | | | we have a window that is perfect height for a dog door. problem is we cant alter the house itself, so i was thinking what if i can turn the screen to the window into a dog door? how would i do it and still keep the bugs out but have the flap swing back and forth? ideas? the screen is about the size of a giant dog door for breeds like great danes, great pyrenees, or st. bernards. measurements are approx 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall. | | | | |

| Barked: Wed Jul 25, '12 5:37pm PST | | | | | i flooded harmony to water by cliping her to our labs harness and throwing a ball. she was 3 months old. yes she freaked out at the time but now she wont stay out of the water. the secret to a proactive and successful flooding is knowing your dog. no you dont want to do it to a dog you dont know but sometimes the best way to handle a situation. like a gun-shy huntin dog. you tie him up near a gun range and let him figure out that the noise wont hurt him. | | | | |

Sports & Agility > oklahoma agility?
Harmony
 Happy and HYPER! |
| Barked: Wed Jul 25, '12 1:35pm PST | | | | | okay Harmony has been training in agility for awhile. just self teaching right now, at playgrounds and stuff. but now we want to move her up to ACTUAL agility equipment. the problem i havent been able to find a place to practice without paying a trainer to "teach" us on the equipment. she already knows what to do, we have traveled to dallas before and they have a agility course you can rent out with other people to practice on a real course. but now, how do we get a real course without having a trainer tell us how to do it in conformation we all we do it for is exercise and bonding? | | | | |

Behavior & Training > Dogs at Wedding/Honeymoon
Harmony
 Happy and HYPER! |
| Barked: Wed Jul 25, '12 1:14pm PST | | | | | i plan to have our dogs Harmony and Gamma at our wedding as Honorary Best Man and Maid of Honor. and walk down the isle and sit at the table during the reception and everything. but then again they are learning the things they would need to be able to do that now. like sitting still for 30+ minutes and sitting in chairs and being good. i would leave the dogs with someone you really trust while you get your room or get a room in a pet friendly place. | | | | |

| Barked: Wed Jul 25, '12 1:03pm PST | | | | | i must have missed the 9 weeks part, and i didnt realize you where in a city. im in a cul-de-sac in oklahoma city, oklahoma so outside on the lawn at 3 months old was not as scary as outside in the city. try sitting near a window to the outside and open it, that way he is still inside and in a "safe zone" but is also being exposed to the outside as well. yummy treats are a big help. my dogs LOVE fresh pineapple. | | | | |
