Other side of the country from me, so I'm afraid the rescues I know probably can't help, but here's the link to the dog in case it helps anyone:

Okay this isn't my breed but,

You shouldn't get a Tibetan Mastiff if you think they're a long haired English Mastiff.

Yes, a houseguest tonight told me he's set on getting a Tibetan Mastiff because he grew up with an English Mastiff, but likes the long fur on the Tibetan. That was literally the only reason he wanted the Tibetan Mastiff over the English. I tried explaining they aren't the same dog at all, but it was falling on deaf ears.

Cutting them into smaller pieces would increase the chance he would swallow whole chunks, wouldn't it? With a dog that doesn't know how to chew properly, you want to look for big, irregularly shaped pieces. I would think the potential problem from necks would come from their shape (could slide right down).

If you can get whole fryers, that might be the best place to start. You could halve or quarter them and let him go at it. In addition to holding the small pieces while he's learning, feeding frozen or partially frozen meat is another way to slow gulpers down.

Only suggestion I have to add is coconut oil. It's supposed to be a good anti-inflammatory for hips and joints.

Raw Food Diet > How do your dogs feel about eating kibble?

Mine has been on raw since 8 weeks (he's 2 years now), so I doubt he even remembers a time when he ate kibble. As a result, he is pretty excited by kibble since it's basically like a treat for him. However, the only time he'll lick the other dog's empty kibble bowl when his own raw dinner is in front of him is when I give him one of the few raw things he doesn't like. Otherwise he waits until after he's eaten his raw to start licking the kibble bowl laugh out loud

Took the dogs to the beach yesterday, but of course it was overcast so that was no good. So I decided to use a picture I took at a local lake.

Fun is water and a toy on a sunny day

I'm not someone who immediately labels anyone who makes a mistake with their dog and child as an unfit dog owner or parent, but this lady... This wasn't a case of the parents not recognizing subtle signals from the dog and so perceiving the bite to have come out of nowhere. It doesn't get much more clear than baring teeth, growling, and snapping. This wasn't even a case of "Yeah, we know he's annoying the dog, but our dog loves him and would never bite him". The mother KNEW there was a risk the dog would hurt the child or she wouldn't have rehomed him in the first place.

Allowing an incident where your child makes the dog uncomfortable, maybe even to the point of growling? That's a mistake and everyone makes them. Repeatedly letting the child harass the dog while the dog makes it crystal clear he isn't comfortable? That's no longer a mistake, that's negligence.
