Just call around to any local grooming shop, most will do it for a minimal fee. I think our shop would charge $8 for pads, sani, and eye area. Arm pits take 2 minutes to shave out.

It's possible that his skin feels differently. If the dog was matted, and had to be shaved down closely to remove the pelting, air to skin can make the dog feel uncomfortable. Think about having a rubberband around your finger, and when you take it off, all the blood rushes back...

I use chunkers mainly when doing outline trims. Mostly on dogs like Shelties, and other double coated breeds. big grin

It really depends on how much you are willing to spend. I've had both Wahl and Andis. I prefer Andis. Blades, and guide combs are interchangeable for both makes. I like the Andis excel But for lower priced clippers, the KM-2 would be fine for a dog owner.

I would probably use thinners more though around the snout, to take off the blunt edges. Thinners gives a softer look.

I have 2 dogs that I wash every 7-10 days. I always wash twice. First wash consists of tearless, rinse halfway, then apply second shampoo. I want my dogs squeaky clean. Then a light remoisturizing. Then rinse, rinse rinse. Never had a problem with drying out issues.

I too like the espree hypo shampoo and remo. Best Shot, is another good line. Order from a grooming supply website for better deals. Kings whole sale, and Midwest Grooming are 2 of my favorites. Most of these shampoo's have to be diluted, so I would also order a mixing bottle. Good Luck smile
