| Barked: Sat Jan 7, '12 12:17am PST | | | | | Toby is currently eating the Checkups brand of dental chews. How do these compare to the Kirkland brand (Costco) dental chews? I'm hoping either of these are better than Greenies, since we stopped buying Greenies. Thanks!! | | | | |

Behavior & Training > How to start teaching to give a paw
Toby

| Barked: Thu Oct 21, '10 9:14am PST | | | | | We learned this in puppy class. What you do is hold the treat and circle it in front of your dog. Your dog will want the treat, and paw you. Click and treat. Once your dog gets the hang of it, you can put your hand out and when her paw touches your hand, you click. You can eventually do away with treat. Just say "paw" every time you practice, and she'll get it. | | | | |

| Barked: Tue Oct 19, '10 10:53am PST | | | | | Thanks for the advice pups. Toby's house is right outside the garage (detached garage), so it's not right next to the house. I think that's one reason why he doesn't go in there, because it's farther from the back door. We're working on moving it to a different spot, but the spot it's in now is covered by a roof, so it doesn't get wet from rain.
We can move it close to the house, but there's not roof cover to shield it. Sanka, the hot dog idea is great. I'll try that one, and hopefully can toss them in when he's not pay attention.
With hay, I don't think that'll work. Knowing Toby, he'll eat the hay, lol.
Keep the advice coming!! Thanks!! | | | | |
