Hi all. I have a lovely 5 month old SS. Our biggest "challenge" right now is that she is so yappy when out in public. I am taking her to the dog beach and obedience school and she is getting a lot of socialisation. I am a bit sick of being told 'oh well, she is a schnauzer they all do that'. In every other way she is a gem, and super smart, so Im after someones helpful insight to fixing this little vice!

My SS hates to be ignored. She does not get a pat in the morning until she sits. We ask our daughter to do the same. It helps to ask visitors to do the same for a little while. Now she realises that the best way to get a pat and cuddles quickly is to sit. Then the reward is the pat and then outside for an active game (very hard for her to keep that wagging butt still when she is excited, so we really reward her).

Hello. We have a SS and a border collie. The two dogs complement each other well - having said that the border collie is calm and quiet. The SS is alert snoopyand loud eek so a temperament match may also be an idea worth considering.
