Dog Laws & Legislation > Changing dog "owner" to dog "gaurdian"

applause Squam applause

I've never liked the "owner" term. Maybe it's my Native American influences but It makes no sense to me that I can "own" a living being. "Guardian" is more appropriate...IMO.

But I know I'm odd in many of my non-traditional beliefs and don't like pushing my beliefs on others. I never understood women changing their last name once they get married. It reminds me of slavery. Slave weren't allowed to have last names of their own...they took the last name of their "master." When they were sold...their last name changed to the new "owners" last name. Creepy, arrogant, possessive, controlling...IMO

Great question Gunner.

I used to say I would NEVER have a Toy Poodle. Never say never. Sumo changed my mind. He was in such bad shape when we rescued him...I just knew we couldn't leave him where he was at so I told him we would get him better and find him a good home.

Once he was well...his personality was so loving, quiet, and just plain happy. He crawled up in the crease of my armpit...laid his head on my shoulder and gave me a kiss cloud 9 That was it. I fell in love with the little guy and his huge capacity to love and trust again.

Since then, I've met some wonderful Toy Poodles with an equally sweet disposition.

88 degrees today eek It's too soon for those high temps.

Sonja had her follow up with our vet. Her liver enzymes are still elevated. She's going to have x-rays and an ultra sound to see check thing out. hug She's eating and still playing normally so hope for the best.

Tomorrow is the last day of PAWS to Read. I'm taking Jasper with his mohawk...the kids have been asking to see him. Sonja is their usual Read Dog...but I take Jasper once in a while as Sonja LOVES kids. Jasper is good with them but Sonja is solid when it comes to crowds of kids around her...Jasper can get a little stressed...which means I just need to do more crowd control than I like.

Had my teeth cleaned today way to go All is well.

Boys...my vet said "no sedative dentals" are the trend everyone is going to... probably not as fast as we'd all like...as vets make bank on doing dentals.

Hubby and I went to a birthday party of a friend....got to bring the kids so it was basically a big play date for the dogs of our Agility friends.

Ty - I haven't seen "A Bronx Tale" I'll have to put it on our list. I just finished watching a PBS Documentary called the "Central Park 5." The true story of 5 young men wrongly accused of the Central Park Jogger rape and assault. Very dis-heartening. So now I'm watching re-runs of "Friends."

I should know better than to watch true stories with that kind of depth right before bed.

wavehug Everyone.

Spring is here...for a little while anyway. Been enjoying working outside and getting some projects done. Hubby and I fixed up an old utility trailer. Only thing left on it is a good paint job. Its working for Hubby today at a Bannock Bark Parks project way to go

All my plants are starting to bloom and I can see where I want new stuff to go in. I cleaned out our 5th wheel so its all ready to go next weekend to another Agility Trial.

Did I tell you I got Sonja, Sumo and Scarlett's teeth cleaned at the last Dog show. Found a lady from Canada who has the equivalent of a PA for animals...her specialty is dental hygiene. She doesn't have to put them under to clean teeth. She wraps them in a towel, puts them between her legs and starts to scale the plaque off...then polishes and shes done. The dogs just lay there...no struggling or fussing...and believe me...if Scarlett didn't struggle...she can clean any dogs teeth.

Their teeth look like a very young dogs new adult teeth! I spent $130.00 for all three dogs. We requested to be put on her email and which shows she'll be at so we can get Jasper and Hersh done as well (I started with the dogs that had the worst plaque).

I love that they don't have to have to be put under for this!!!!!

Well, another beautiful day here. On to get chores and errands done.

Stay safe my friends hughughughughug

wave We just returned from South Jordan, Utah from an Agility Trial. Beautiful weather! Cold mornings but turned very nice during the days.

Jasper only had one qualifying run all weekend. He was running sluggishly. Not sure why?

I won a few things in the raffles...an exercise ball for dogs. I'm going to use it with Sonja to strengthen her back legs. Being 12 years old...she's having some muscle wasting. I also won a beautiful 4x7 blanket. It feels like mink on one side (it's not) and silk on the other. cloud 9

Now that we're home...it's cold and rainy. I was able to get poo patrol done before it got too nasty out.

OK...today was PAWS to Read...one of the little boys came into class and complained one of the girls "assaulted" him. (mind you...these are second graders). The teacher brings in the girl to hear her side. The girl says, "He was in my space. I told him to get back and he wouldn't so I gave him a nipple crippler." eeklaugh out loudbig laugh
