Raw Food Diet > Dr. Jeffrey Levy, homeopathy?

| Barked: Mon Jan 7, '13 10:21am PST | | | | | I've been looking into classical homeopathy for Mika; she had a mast cell tumor removed from her right hind leg in November. I've heard of Jeff Feinman and Magda Aquila, but have heard some nasty stuff about each of them.
I found one guy named Dr. Jeff Levy online, and haven't read anything bad again. But I haven't read much good, either. He appears to be not as well known as the other two homeopaths I mentioned.
Here's his web site:

Thoughts?
(I am skeptical about homeopathy, although I used to be a believer...but I'm willing to try anything to help my girl.)

You can buy pre-made frozen raw from many pet supply stores. But other than that, I agree with the other posters that salmon oil could help. My schnauzer, Mika, also gets hot spots due to allergies and she gets two fish oil capsules daily.

That's generally true. It does depend on the breed, though. Breeds that have been bred to work with humans will often turn to their handlers/owners for help, but breeds that haven't been bred to work with humans (for example, terriers) will often try to figure out the problem on their own. There are definitely exceptions, though! Both of my dogs -- including my terrier -- will ask me for help when they're frustrated with something, like if they smell a treat stuck under a cabinet or something.

Behavior & Training > Fear of constant noises
Wall-e
Loving our snowy- Canadian winter! |
| Barked: Fri Feb 11, '11 3:58pm PST | | | | | I started a thread in January asking about natural stress products for Wall-e's fear of noises. Now I'm asking how I can actually help him fully overcome his fear.
The problem began in December 2009, when we were at an agility fun match. The fun match was held in a dome arena and there was snow on the "roof" of the arena. Well, the piles of snow started sliding off of the roof as Wall-e and I were inside the arena. It made a BIG noise and Wall-e was absolutely terrified. And so began his extreme fear of constant noises.
By "constant" noises, I mean noises that go on and on, like fans (that's his biggest) or the wind. Other noises definitely scare him too, especially if they're loud, but the constant noises really freak him out.
I worked through his fear of the kitchen fan (that developed after that fun match) through counterconditioning. Let me know if you want me to copy/paste from my blog how exactly I did it; it's a long post I just don't know how to overcome his fear of the heating fan at the indoor venue that I trial at with my schnauzer. I would love to trial Wall-e there eventually; even just at evening trials, which are quieter and smaller than the weekend trials. We've been trying to work through this for over two years and I need advice.
Help? Thanks in advance!!
