Raw Food Diet > Ticks. natural remedies?
Seela
Beauty and the- Beast |
| Barked: Tue May 7, '13 7:26am PST | | | | | I have used hemp oil (for dogs) and find it keeps the ticks at bay. It is also good for their skin. I put in their food starting a month before tick season. The only problem I have found is that the ticks still go on the dogs but do not attach/feed and the ticks end up going on me. Yuckys! | | | | |

Dogs and a Clean Home > Hardwood Floors and Large Dogs
Seela
Beauty and the- Beast |
| Barked: Sun Mar 3, '13 9:13am PST | | | | | I have old pine floors in the house which are pretty old, damaged and need replacing. I want to go with hardwood and need to know what would be the best. Maybe hard maple or bamboo? No tile or laminate suggestions, as I do not want these. Anyone that has experience with a good wood floor?
I have two big dogs. Yes, nails are cut, but when somebody comes to the door, the nails dig into the pine for traction!

Food & Nutrition > Switching dogs off of Bentiful, suggested brands? Question about Beggin Strips.

| Barked: Sun Mar 3, '13 12:41am PST | | | | | Beggin Strips are "MADE IN CHINA". Please do not give your dog any more of these. Just do a quick search on the internet and see why. I used to give my dogs those chicken strips for years. Suddenly, one year my 6 yr GSD got sick and died of leukemia (I swear it was the made in China poison treats). My dogs love the treats I make with liver, chicken or any other human grade meat. | | | | |

Puppy Place > We don't know the breed of our dog.

| Barked: Mon Feb 25, '13 10:23pm PST | | | | | Tempe is for sure a BOE dog (best of everything). You can only find these breeds at shelters and rescue places. I am also a BOE dog from a reserve so I have a few breeds in me. My mom was going to do the DNA thing which costs about $100.00 but she donated that money for cancer drugs to a nice pit bull in the states - so I will never know exactly what I am except a BOE! Also, I never get sick and never do anything wrong (I think anyway). | | | | |

Senior Dogs > Loss of Housetraining

| Barked: Tue Feb 19, '13 7:34am PST | | | | | I would agree, if it is not health related I'd say Auggie is communicating that he is not happy with the atmosphere in the house with the added changes and stress. He may not be getting as much attention also. Keep stuff of the floor so he can't pee on it, keep the stress down and hopefully this behavior will pass. | | | | |

Rescue, Adoption & Happy Endings > A happy ending story
Seela
Beauty and the- Beast |
| Barked: Sat Feb 16, '13 9:25pm PST | | | | | What a big handsome boy! I am sure glad he has a furever good home. We got Seela when she was six years old. She wasn't starved but emotionally neglected (alone a kennel for most of her life), did not know how to play or know what a treat was and stunk to high heaven. Seela is a totally different dog now. I know they really appreciate the attention, good food and owners that tend to their basic needs and treat them as part of the family. It did take Seela a while to fully bond to us, but when she did, you know it is truly sincere. Congratulations of your big bundle of joy! | | | | |

Choosing the Right Dog > "No Kill" Breeding For Funds? Egads!

| Barked: Fri Feb 1, '13 7:52am PST | | | | | This person is nothing more than a BYB with shameful advertising and guarantees they cannot live up to. Does anyone live in the area and check it out - maybe get something done in the local paper, as it is probably only local people that would buy. "Come adopt an older rescue dog, and look at these cute puppies." I'm sure some people may get duped with this scam add but hopefully most people do go to shelters. | | | | |

Dogs & Travel > Need dog friendly hotels/motels across Canada

| Barked: Fri Feb 1, '13 7:25am PST | | | | | oops! I see that you are moving in May - so much better. When we drove across in January I found that so many of the places (especially in Ontario) are closed for the season.
In Llyodminster we stayed at the BCM Inn. It was clean and had an area in the back to run the dogs (as long as they haven't built something there now). I can send you couple of pics if that would help.

Dogs & Travel > Need dog friendly hotels/motels across Canada
Seela
Beauty and the- Beast |
| Barked: Thu Jan 31, '13 10:08pm PST | | | | | Welcome back to Nova Scotia! We moved here three years ago from Edmonton and it is quite a haul with two large dogs. Willie (our Hobema mix) always got car sick, but the gravol seems to work okay with him. If you have enough room it would be good to bring your jugs of water for the dogs - less chance of the runs. I only had one problem in Quebec where the dogs had to stay in the truck, otherwise quite a few places do take dogs. I found the internet really good as I could scope out if there were grassy/treed areas for the dogs around the motels. When are you moving and what routes are you taking? There were a couple of good places for dogs when we went across Canada - and in January! Are you moving right to Halifax or outside of the city? | | | | |
