A dog that lunges or jumps can seriously injure it's neck. I used one on Shadow for a while, but found it a strain to keep her on a short enough leash to prevent injury. I prefer a no pull harness that clips in the front. You should be able to pick one up at any pet store. I use the Easy walk, but there are several others that apparently fit better.

Avoid situations that might set her up to fail, control her interactions to insure they stay positive and keep working with a trainer.

Seriously though at 5 months old she is likely testing and pushing boundaries. If you are like most newly pregnant humans, you have probably been a bit distracted, maybe not feeling so hot and possibly a bit more tired then normal. If so she has likely found a 'weakness' and will push it for all she's worth. Stand your ground, keep on top of her and be sure to spend some quality 'cuddles and treats' time. Make sure she is getting enough exercise and keep her thinking with things like 'find it' games, complicated fetch (multiple commands in one throw), work hard on 'leave it' and other commands you will need in a few months.

It was about 2 years ago, wasn't it? I work too much time is sort of blurry for me.
Peter, Sabi was diagnosed simply on medical history and localized inflammation and pain that responded to the meds. Since anesthetic is a no go for her, x-rays will always be a last resort. Why waste the money if the dog is going to be moving around right?

For the first six months or so of her life Shadow had to contend daily with the nasty Golden that lived next door and was forever loose. Yup a mean Golden, shocked me to. It attacked anyone it came across and sent two small dogs to the e vet with serious injuries, yet repeated pleas to AC yielded nothing.
In and around this time was the yard dog down the hill, an old Rottie that is responsible for at least one neighborhood pups demise. He got hold of young Shadow one day, forcing me to connect boot to head. I finally got him to drop my little girl, tossed her into someone's truck box and unleashed all of a protective Mama's fury on the still hellbent attacker. The dog is still around, still runs loose(I watched it grab someone's dog on Saturday), and AC still does nothing.
Then we got the attitudal BC cross to replace the dummies with the Golden. She was a treasure. Bit me twice getting into my car, attacked Shadow and made a short lived attempt at Sabs. She actually attempted a few times to jump into my yard. AC? Yup, nothing.
Their excuse in all of this? We need to catch them at large OR we need proof that that dog attacked you or your dog sufficiently badly to cause provable injury. Are you kidding me?
I finally got them to come out for the BC by offering to catch her for them, with the bumper of my car, if she ever came near me or my dogs again. They gave the owners a warning, and a fine for no license.
