Faith got bumped up to Graduate Novice in 4-H and she will need a dumbbell for this level. I have never heard anything about using a dumbbell and dont even know where to start. Can anyone help me find one and how to size Faith for one and where to begin even training her for it.

Thanks !

Here are some good instructions on measuring for a dumbbell

I prefer one piece wooden dumbbells but it is totally up to you if you want plastic or wood.

I did Grad Novice last year! MN 4-H Rules say you need wooden or plastic I believe - I have wooden and mine has held up great. I know a person through our local Kennel Club who makes her own and will help you size your dog if you bring them to her place, or can help you and mail it to you as well probably. She helps out 4-Hers a lot and is a great lady! She's near St. Peter - send me a PM if you want her name and number. She helped me and was great!
