i noticed that they need to be groomed regularly and need to be brushed several times a week, are they hypoallergenic?

Most of them are definitely hypo allergenic but the main reason why you need to groom them regularly is to avoid matting. They have coarse thick undercoats so you definitely want to comb and brush their hindquarters and tail very often. As well regular grooming alleviates the extra shedding which means less sweeping or vacuuming, lol.......smile
