	Can anyone tell me about them? I'm more curious than anything, due to my love for Mastiff's and having finally met some in person. I took my bunny in to have his teeth trimmed(he has malocclusion), and there was an older one and a six month old pup. Both beautiful, laid-back dogs. They were happy to say hello, were happy to laze around, and even more happy to allow people in and out of the pet shop. They were just sooo sweet and gorgeous. And of course, loving Mastiff's, I was swooning. Is that calm, laid-back temperament typical of the breed? Anything anyone can tell me would be great.

	Only seen them at dog shows...but I too Love the big lug types My hubby would hate the drool Guardian breeds tend to be velcro to their peeps and can be very territorial at their home with strangers. Sounds like the ones you met have been well socialized and probably see their role at the shop as greeter/guard. Nothing quite like a guardian breed when it comes to quiet, laid-back, but serious protection. I love their velcro-ness...which is by no means needy. You must be physically strong to train these beautiful beasts...or you'll end up flying like a flag as you hold onto the leash behind a galloping tank.

	They're nice dogs but need really well trained and socialised if for no other reason than it's going to be really hard to control an adult that's out of control. Hopefully there's not the issue in the US that there is here they've gone from relative obscurity to in the top 20 registrations very quickly and their temperment is suffering . One of my favourite breeds I've met a few nice ones. The well bred ones tend to be pretty laid back and calm but I pity anyone who tried to hurt their humans. 	Don't really have anything to add about them but I sure love them too A guy always brings his Dogue to Petsmart on weekends and he LOVES the attention he gets from EVERYONE. He's obviously very well socialized with people and kids, and is like a giant laid-back, drooling teddy bear when he's in the store. Edited by author Sat Sep 8, '12 12:10am PST

	I think of turner and hooch as well. i only seen them at dog shows, wait i actually seen a puppy at the outside mall. He was gorgoeus!!

	They had plenty of people fussing over them all day even lots of kids and from what I could see they were pretty unfazed by the whole thing. Didn't get much a chance for a chat with them though but when I met one in the park I ended up soaked the drool is the one thing that would put me off them.
