Piggy was found on the side of the road here in central California and her breed has always been a big question to me. All I have read online points to her being a Carolina dog, but she looks like she could be a shepherd mix too. Anybody out there who can help clear this up for me?

My dog is labeled Shepherd mix at the Vets and there is very little difference in personality traits since both breeds are bright and energetic. You can get DNA testing for under $100 if you really want to know. There is a group that does research on carolina dogs that was very helpful in identifying breeds but from what i can tell the only way to be sure is DNA. After 4 months with Cowboy it doesn't seem to matter what he is genetically although i wish I had known how big he was going to get before i let him sleep with us.
