It sounds as though he gets a bit overly excited when you come home from being out. You may not feel you are gone long but to them 10 minutes can be forever. When you come in from being out,act calmly do not speak to him in high pitched or excited tones,don't make a big fuss,just go about settling in yourself and when he is calm let him out of the crate and calmly give him attention and affection,I'm glad he didn't have a repeat of the problem. We had the same problem with Mka but by being calm ourselves until she calmed down from the excirement ended it quickly.
