What could make our 14 yo dog suddenly yelp/scream non-stop and need to run full speed, breathing extremely fast?

While we all were all sleeping, our inherited 14 year old American Eskimo Dog suddenly began yelping/screaming at the top of her lungs. When we got to her, she wouldn't stop RUNNING! I finally managed to catch her and corner in the bathroom (still yelping/screaming and trying to run full speed), I felt her all over and she gave no response to any area as if she was injured. I let her outside into our fenced yard where she RAN around and around the yard, full speed, nonstop, eventually without yelping. She did that for at least 15 minutes (an extraordinarily long time for her to run full speed!), eventually slowing out of exhaustion. I finally managed to get her leash on her and reeled her in like a fish, forcing her to slow down slowly. It took about an hour, but now she seems almost back to normal, off the leash, laying down mostly, but pacing a little. She's still panting a little. Do you have any idea what in the world could have made her do this? Maybe her heart?

No idea, but I'm sure the vet can help. Yes, I honestly think that this is serious enough to take her to the vet over.
