New puppy and running

My fiance and I will be picking up our new Engligh Springer Spaniel pup in about a week and a half (she will be just over 8 weeks). My fiance and I are both runners and would eventually like to run with our dog. At what age can you start taking dogs on short distance runs? At what age can you start working them up to 2 miles, 3 miles....?

18 months is the max and the minium is 15 months in slowly starting out.
One mile at a time is best with one day of normal yard exercise inbetween.
You have to give the dog enough time to develop body, tissues, joints, ect.
any sooner you will be adding health issues to your dog.
search the internet for conditioning dogs.

I also am a runner and have done many marathons, i would not run a puppy and distance until a year or older. Then you are just going to have to see how the dog does running. Some will take to it others dont like distance runing. Take it slow and see how they are. Also remember theyhae fur coats on and dont run when it is hot. And if you live someplace where there is snow think about getting boots or something for the dogs to run in.
