i just got a female 8 week old shitzu/pomeranian and she won't stop whining! i left today to go to town and when i came home she had peed and pooped-(but not on her pee pad),tipped her water dish and made herself damp. When i came home she was running and whining crazily around my feet, and when i didn't pick up she went into a high pitched bark/whine. WHAT DO I DO?
i went to the bathroom and she whined crazily and scratched the door. She is so cute and i love her and i don't want to crate her- but nothing works!!! HELP!!!

You say you just got her but "nothing works"?...What have you tried?
Your dog is a BABY & that's what babies do...It sounds like you could use some training classes or puppy kindergarten to help you understand your puppy.
She's a baby that was just taken away from her mother, of course she's whining and peeing/pooping. That's what babies do.
You need to be patient with her and let her adjust to her new surroundings.
When she's doing the whining/bark thing, don't acknowledge it. But, when she's quiet, even for a second, praise her and let he know that that's the behavior you desire. Always acknowledge and praise the behavior you want.
Get her involved in some puppy classes and that will help build her confidence and will fast track her training.
One other thing you can do to help with the separation anxiety is walk out of the house, like you're going somewhere, but just stand outside the door for a few minutes and go back in. 20 minutes later, leave again but stay out a little longer and then go back in. Do that intermittently when you have time, expanding the time you're gone, and she'll realize that you always come back.

You are right in not using a crate right now. Once she is house trained it is OK. It protects her and your house. When my Rottie had 10 puppys I used a baby play pen to keep 5 at a time for feeding. You can use one and place her bed or baby blankets at one end and pee pad at the other. Be sure to give her toys to play with, and water. There are also small gated corals to use for kids that would also work well. Maybe even better because they are a little larger. When you come in never make eye contact until you are ready to say hello and she is quiet. I crate 2 dogs and have a gate for the third, that gives her the hall, bathroom and den, all other bedroom doors are closed. She's a Husky and needs more room. When I come in, I can unload the car and no one makes a sound until I let them out of the crates. Then we all run outside!!! I hope this helps.
